Our office will NOT be using the FluMist this year. We will only have the Flu vaccine in injectable form.
See Reason Below.
As you plan for the upcoming 2016-2017 influenza season, we are here to inform you of the recent interim recommendations of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) regarding the use of FluMist® Quadrivalent for the 2016-2017 season.
At the June 22 meeting of the ACIP, preliminary data were shared regarding the effectiveness of FluMist® Quadrivalent during the 2015-2016 influenza season. Based on a review of these data, the ACIP issued an interim recommendation that FluMist Quadrivalent should not be used in any setting for the 2016-2017 influenza season. This decision was based on CDC vaccine effectiveness study results from the last three influenza seasons, in which FluMist Quadrivalent did not demonstrate statistically significant effectiveness in children 2-17 years of age in the US.
As of July1, 2016 you will be required to provide us with a copy of your Private or Medicaid Insurance card. Be sure to bring it with you when you visit our office. If you do not have your card you will have to reschedule your visit.
Toward the end of last year MEDICAID sent every recipient a new card. Some of the cards have an incorrect Primary Care Physician (PCP) name. Please view your card to verify that ABC Pediatrics of Asheville is the PCP. If your card is incorrect you will need to call your case worker or the following number (919) 855-4780 to advise Medicaid of the correct PCP. This will eliminate delay of your visit once in our office. We appreciate your help!
We have a new check-in system called PHREESIA. When you arrive at our office you will be given a tablet to register your visit. The first time through, it will ask ALL of your demographic and pertinent information. In future visits it will ask you to respond only to changes. Because of the time it takes, we are requiring each patient to be at our office 20 minutes prior to the designated appointment time.
It is so important to keep those visits on time that we ask each of you to be early.
