Dr. Dephouse has roots in both North Carolina and Michigan. He graduated  from Furman University and the University of South Carolina School of Medicine. He came to Asheville in 2001 after serving as Chief Resident in pediatrics at Children’s Hospital of Alabama at the UAB School of Medicine in Birmingham.

He and his wife have two daughters who are both teachers. In his free time he loves spending time with his family and enjoys water and snow sports. In the winter he volunteers on the National Ski Patrol at Cataloochee Ski Area.
