Dr. Pulver is originally from Greenwood, South Carolina but did all her post-secondary schooling in North Carolina. She is a Davidson College graduate. She completed medical school at Duke University (including a year working in Nairobi, Kenya), along with a Masters of Public Health from the University of North Carolina. Residency training and chief residency took place at University of Utah Primary Children's Medical Center.

She and her husband have two children. They enjoy traveling and are especially fond of visiting the UK. Dr. Pulver enjoys outdoor activities and keeping up with pop culture.
